The Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, the keynote speaker Wednesday at the annual induction ceremony of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, was explaining his undiminished passion for rock music and confiding that he had become obsessed by the opening line to Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom."

'American Idol' Winner Candice Glover Gets July Release for Debut Album
Mere hours after the "American Idol" season 12 finale wrapped, 19 Recordings/Interscope Records announced that winner Candice Glover's debut album will be out as soon as July 16. The title: "Music Speaks."
Fans of the 23 year-old singer from St. Helena Island, SC, can pre-order the record now via iTunes and Glover's newly launched Web site. With a purchase, Glover's "American Idol" coronation song, “I Am Beautiful," will be available for instant download.
Nearly doubling the trio's previous best weekly Nielsen SoundScan sum, Pistol Annies' sophomore set "Annie Up" bows at No. 2 on Top Country Albums with 83,000 sold. The threesome of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley previously debuted at No. 1 with "Hell on Heels," which started with 44,000 on the Sept. 10, 2011, list.
On Hot Country Songs, the trio achieves its highest rank as featured on Lambert's husband Blake Shelton's "Boys 'Round Here," which bullets at No. 3.
